Team Black Coaching was thrilled to sponsor the Thornbury handicap race today for Southland Cycling. Distance was over 48km 2 laps of a circuit & the gap from limit to the scratch was 9 min it was in near perfect conditions.
It came down to a sprint finish with all bunches coming together apart from scratch that followed close behind Hayden Rankin showed a clean pair of heels to take the win in a well-timed sprint with Aaron Sinclair 2nd & Team Black's Wally Kopae coming in a close 3rd, the ever-green Steve Wilson came 4th. First woman was Team Black's Sam Kopae.
With Scratch contending for fastest time we had Steve Rhodes, Finlay Wall, Derek Tan and Team Black's Andrew Lienert in the hunt for fastest line honours but Finlay Wall who left it all out on the circuit with some big turns on the front faded with 500m to go.
Derek Tan took fastest time closely followed by Andrew Lienert. In the junior race we had pocket rocket Jack McLeod take the win from Caitlin Kelly who also got first girl home and third was Jaz McLeod. So thanks to those who turned up today to race and hope you enjoyed it.
