Two major contributors to Cycling Southland's racing and coaching programmes were recognised this week when Waine Harding and Bruce Ross were nominated as finalists in the Watties Volunteer Coach of the Year awards.

Waine as Senior Division Convenor, puts in endless weekend hours to ensure our Senior Road Progamme is delivered safely and efficiently. He also spends much of his spare time at the ILT Velodrome coaching at least two weekly track sessions, along with a weekly session on the road. Waine is the heart of Cycling Southland's racing organisation and we were delighted to nominate him for this award.

Bruce Ross has given endless years of service to the sport of cycling at the ILT Velodrome and previously at Kew Bowl. He has been the face of the sport in the south and is responsible for literally hundreds upon hundreds of youngsters taking up the sport and going on to higher honours. His nomination for the Lifetime Service award was richly deserved.
