It was a rather small field of teams who fronted up for the Team Time Trial held at Winton on Sunday, warm calm conditions made for some great times. The absence of any teams from Otago was a little disappointing. Next year when they host us we are going to travel on mass and regain that competitive rivalry that has existed in the past.
Team time trialing was something new to a lot of the riders and they are a tough way to race! It really has to be one of the toughest tests of bike fitness around. Team work and communication is something that isn’t always associated with bike racing. But on this day it was all about that.
The field consisted of 2 x U15, 3 x U17, 2 x Rec, 2 x W Masters, 5 x M Masters, 1 x Open teams. They were sent off at 2min intervals with U15 and Rec teams riding a 15km course, U17 and WM rode a 25km course and the remaining teams completed a 40km course.
