The annual Corporate Pursuit swings back into action at the SIT Velodrome tomorrow.
It is the ninth year the teams event has been held, beginning in the year of the velodrome's opening (2006).
Invercargill law firm, AWS Legal, has competed every year.
Twenty-two teams are entered this year, with time-trialling between 2pm and 4pm tomorrow. Teams have six members, but only four can ride on the track.
Tomorrow, teams race against the clock over 1000m (four laps). The fastest 11 make up division one and others are in division two for tomorrow week's finals.
The winners of the finals each receive $400.
A spectator at the final will win a mountain bike, while the most boisterous team supporter receives a $200 voucher from the Invercargill Licensing Trust.
Co-event director Julian Ineson said finals day was exciting and fun.
"It's a very good family day," Ineson said yesterday. "Some teams will slice off 10sec to what they've done in training."
Road training and spin classes have formed some of the teams' build ups.
Cycling Southland members and past competitors are among volunteers helping at the Corporate Pursuit.
"Some people that aren't in a team this year have offered to help."
The full list of teams competing are: AWS Legal, BMAC Sheetmetal, BNZ, Crowe Horwath, EIS Group Limited, Environment Southland, Westpac, Whytes Gravel Supplies, HW Richardson, IFS Growth Limited, Mitre 10 MEGA, New Zealand Fire Service (two teams), Opus International Consultants Limited, Ricoh Southland, SBS Bank, Southern Cross, Southern District Health Board, Speedy Radcliffes, Fonterra (two teams) and Urology Now Limited.
