Hi everyone and yes just two more sleeps to go because Thursday is the day the Glasgow Commonwealth Games kick off – oh boy, oh boy! It’s going to be exciting, particularly with so many Southland cyclists taking part!

It’s is shaping up to be a potentially great year for medals for our cycling team and news highlighting this fact just keeps on coming – see today’s great sprint article here

Then it’s just a couple more weeks until our talented trio of Junior Worlds reps take on the competition in Korea. Again Laura, Mike and Nick have been hitting the headlines as part of the lead-in campaign. We had Laura’s yarn last week, so view Mike’s here and then read up on Nick’s take here – we hope their final push in training really has them raring to go!

Saturday Racing
Another cold but successful two-race day was held on Saturday and with some fine TT and Team Race results – well done everyone involved in again making this happen. Courtesy of Waine, all the results have now been posted online and there’s even some stylish snaps from the first round in the winter series courtesy of Robyn Edie here

This Saturday is Woodstock Handicap, don’t forget the 12.30pm assembly for 1pm race start from the Mabel Bush Hall. Please register online here by midday Thursday. The following weekend will be the second race in the winter series and second in the secondary school competition – which will again be ridden on Sunday 3 August.
