Hi everyone and goodly me it’s only 22 sleeps until we hit Christmas Day,

Should be fun and a bit of a well-deserved break for many – but we still have some business to attend to before then so bring on the Southland Track Champs this weekend!

Make sure you head along to the track and cheer on the riders this weekend – they’re our cycling champs and we have many out of towners racing as well. Sessions are from 6pm Friday and day sessions only starting from 10am on both Saturday and Sunday.

If anyone is still able to volunteer this weekend and hasn’t yet put their hand up please let me know and we will certainly find something for you to do.

Record attempts
Last year, some U15 riders who had previously been very close to breaking the National Record, had one final crack at the New Zealand U15 500m Time Trial record prior to the start of the Southland Champs Programme, and before they officially went up an Age division.

This year we are offering the same to any riders who are due to go up an Age Division, and have previously been close to breaking the National Record for their Age Division.

If you would like to be considered, then please email Dale at [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 4th December.

Want to be considered for Nationals but can’t ride Southland Champs?
If you have a legitimate reason for being absent from Southland Champs, but wish to be considered for selection into the Southland Team for the National Track Championships, then please write an email to the selectors via Dale, by 12pm on Monday 9th December explaining your situation and the events you wish to be considered for.  Selectors will be meeting to select the Southland team for Nationals next week.

No Sprint Squad Monday 9th
Everyone will deserve a day off after a big weekend of racing, so there will be no Sprint Squad next Monday and you can spend a well-earned evening at home. The final Sprint Squad for the year will be held on Monday 16 December.

Points Series Winners
With the Winton Golf Course race being the final race in the Winter Points Series, we can now announce our Points Series Division Winners!

Congratulations to the following riders:
Division 1 – Mathew Zenovich
Division 2 – Andrew Lienert
Division 3 – Tim Maynard
Division 4 – Nicola Stevens

Draft Summer Road Racing Programme
The Summer Road Programme has now been drafted and can be viewed here.

Any feedback can be sent to Dale.
Any necessary amendments will be made, and the final programme will be circulated before the stadium closes for Christmas.

Christmas Arrangements

We are negotiating to have the Stadium opened on three different occasions during the break, for open track sessions.  We are looking for someone who is around in Invercargill over the Christmas break and is willing to learn how to open/close the Stadium to allow these sessions to go ahead.  Anyone interested can let Dale know.
