Well it has been a mighty big few weeks – but there is no rest for the wicked and tomorrow we head out to Fairweather Road with more than 70 secondary school students for the Southland-Otago Schools Road Champs – should be a great day of competition and fingers cross the rain clouds hold off!
We have also got a couple of great road race events with the Stonewood Homes Gore to Invercargill Classic this Saturday and the Southland Road Champs the weekend after Easter so that should keep everyone busy on their bikes.
As previously indicated, due to ongoing financial pressures Stadium Southland is increasing the cost of track hire by more than a third from the start of April. The exec has looked at various options but it has been agreed this unfortunately has to be passed on to users.
As of April 1, there will be an increase in the hourly user charge to $8. Concession cards will go up accordingly – a 12 two-hour session card will be $150 (includes two free sessions) while a 12 one-hour session card will be $80 (includes two free sessions). The cost of a private track hire will go up by $10.
Concession cards already paid for will not be affected by the rise.
Set aside Friday April 13 for a club meeting. This has been asked for by some members and will provide a state-of-play and an update on the coming year as well as exploring solutions for any issues. The focus will be on finding proactive solutions for the future of the organisation.

Please don’t bring aero bars to road races. They are not permitted in a road race, even if you are following the race some distance back. There are obvious risks with having them on during a race and under no circumstances are they allowed – this includes Saturday races and Wednesday Worlds.
