Good soggy Tuesday to you all,
Well, as is more often the case than not, we have a newsy little comms today so into it we launch with gusto!
Sad news first ….
Resignation
I’m sad to announce that Danielle (Rabbit) has resigned from her position. She’s been offered a position as administration manager of Olympic Weightlifting NZ, which is an exciting opportunity for to advance her career in sports management. She will be still here for Yunca and SI Schools Track Champs, with her last day Fri Oct 12. She’s also promised that she’ll help out at Southland Track Champs!
The role will be reviewed in regards to how replace her. But it’s already clear she will leave a big hole in the administration side of the organisation with her workload involving a lot of behind the scenes that isn’t often seen or recognised – Mark Hotton
Yunca Junior Tour
Entries for the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland have closed and we have 130 entrants with fantastic fields across the age groups – which is going to make it an awesome event this year!
Anyone willing to marshal on Saturday and Sunday please let Danielle (Rabbit) know [email protected]
Schools Track Champs and ILT Junior Carnival
Don’t forget the South Island Schools Track Champs and ILT Junior Track Carnival just after Yunca on 10 and 11 October. Register online now
Volunteers Needed
We’re after any help we can with roles during the South Island Schools Track Champs on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 October during the day, along with Tuesday night from 6pm for the ILT Junior Carnival please. Let me know if you can lend a hand – hugely appreciated.
King House Removals Series
Friday night was the 6th night of the Kings House Removal Series, with a continuing theme of competitive racing which we hope will help over the next few weeks competition. Apologies to Jade who still leads the girls U15.
We take a break now until the 26th of October which is the Scratch race, TT and Points race followed by pizza, if we don't forget how to run the nights between now and then we may even fit in a 'special race.'
Until then, thanks to all those who have helped make the series a success and good luck with the events. https://www.cyclingsouth.org.nz/pages/kingsomnium/

Club meeting
Don’t forget the club meeting on Wednesday night (tomorrow) in the Champions Lounge from 6pm. There will be an update on where things are at with Tour of Southland, Yunca, Oceania Track Champs for next year, and an update on progress on the road racing timing system. There will be an opportunity for any general business to be discussed too. All welcome!
AMNESTY - Clothing & Property Returns
Can everyone please check their car boots and garages for any Cycling Southland lights, hi-res vests, flags and radios as we very much need them returned so they can be checked in readiness for the upcoming major road tours please.
Also it has come to my attention that skinsuits and road tops are still outstanding that have been hired. This means they MUST be returned between events and not kept in your drawer until next time. Please check and get them back ASAP please.
Finally huge good luck to all those travelling to the National Schools Road Champs in Christchurch this weekend. It will be a busy time for our juniors over the coming weeks with the road champs, followed by Yunca, followed by the Carnival and Schools Track Champs. Good luck to each and every one of you competing. It is all about giving it your absolute best and being proud of always improving your level of achievement when competing. Go hard and go fast!
Have a fantastic remainder of your week and great start to the school holidays.
