Greetings cycling enthusiasts,
Another cool but sunny day in the south as 60 eager beavers do their final prep in readiness for the Westpac chopper ride from Queenstown to Invercargill. This is a very worthy cause so don’t hesitate to jump online and support your favourite rider through the Give a Little fundraising site. Good luck to everyone involved – ride safely and we hope the weather forecast improves over the coming days!

Road Racing Registration System
To help simplify the online registration process for road racing we have adopted a new system that hopefully will become convenient for those who regularly race. This new system is called Teamer, it is not spam and once you’ve joined the group each week you will get an invite to the scheduled race and all you have to do is simply click yes or no to enter. If you have accidentally deleted this email invite please let me know and I can resend an invite. This system will be our main race rego from July onwards when the new race calendar gets underway.

Club Roll Tonight
It will be an open Club Roll tonight from 6-8pm and there will be a race in the second half of the session to give some chocolate fish away – so head on down.

Corporate Pursuit
A reminder that Corporate Pursuit entries are now open and you can register online to get your early bird discount by registering before 22 May. Check out all the details here

In conjunction with this we are again holding a free Have a Go session again next Monday 15 May from 7-9pm. This fully coached session is open to any riders considering being a part of this year’s event who have never been on the track before so head on down on Monday. Anyone wishing to help coach a team this year please contact me at the office.
Talent Development Training Camp & Mid-Winter Carnival

Sid will be holding a Talent Development Camp from Monday 10 to Friday 14 July, which will culminate with our new Mid-Winter Carnival being held on the evenings of Thursday 13 and Friday 14 July. There are limited spaces in the camp, which is aimed at U17 and U19 cyclists who went to the Track Nationals, read all about it here

So register no later than 20 June to [email protected]

You can also register for the Track Carnival that month – it is open to all ages. Register here now

Junior Road Camp
Due to popular demand there will be a Junior Road Camp from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 July at Taringatua. Please note in your diaries now and more detail will come nearer the event.

Fundraising garage sale
Many of you will be cleaning up around the house and section this Easter.  Before you chuck anything out, can we ask that you consider keeping aside anything that may be suitable for the Cycling Southland fundraising GARAGE SALE in July.  Remember the old idiom “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.

This is a major fundraising venture for Cycling Southland so if you have anything at all, no matter how big or small, please put it aside and we will see if we can gain a profit off it.  We do have some room to store some “goods” so please contact Bruce at Cycling Southland if you have anything you would like stored rather than dump it.

Please pass this message on to your family and friends.

AGM Date
The AGM will be held on Thursday 27 July, at 7pm, with the venue to be confirmed.

Road Tops – Skinsuits – Licences
With the National events done and dusted can you please ensure all skinsuit and road top hires are returned to the office as soon as convenient. Also a reminder to collect your licence from off my desk if you haven’t done so already.

Finally, huge congratulations to all our riders who travelled to Cambridge last week to compete in the Club Road Nationals, there were certainly some exceptional results overall and everyone rode extremely well. If you haven’t caught up already, check out the final results of our riders Also a big thank you to Steve Keast for taking on the role of team manager for this event and all the parents who helped up there too.

That is more than enough information for this week, so take care and go the Westpac chopper riders!
