New Zealand will send three Southlanders to next month’s UCI World Track Cycling Championships in Melbourne as part of their largest team ever. Eddie Dawkins, Matt Archibald and Natasha Hansen have all earned trips across the Tasman.
Five Cycling Southland members have been named a 16-strong team to contest the junior world track cycling championships to be held in New Zealand from 22-26 August.
While the focus is firmly fixed on the London Olympics, BikeNZ has begun development for the Olympic Games in 2016 and two of Cycling Southland's number are among them.
The Oceania elite men’s cycling road race honours proved a winning double for Canterbury riders. Christchurch rider Paul Odlin outlasted a classy field over a demanding course near Queenstown to claim the elite men’s title over 153kms today.
