Saturdays Race was a wet, windy and cool affair. 15 real cyclists including two juniors turned up to brave the elements.

Wanaka cyclist Mikayla Harvey, 16, has selected in the New Zealand under-19 women's road racing team for the UCI world championships in Richmond, Virginia, USA next month.

Hi everyone and we are certainly having some invigorating starts these past mornings! It’s is great to see the sun shine afterwards though.

Thirty seven riders braved the cold conditions that the Browns road race presented on Saturday, which included a nasty hail storm which restricted visibility down to only about one metre during the first of two laps. The cold conditions had its affect with some riders from all divisions pulling out after the first lap.

The past year has been a learning curve for Nick Kergozou De La Boessiere, and the highs and lows have prepared him for what will be the biggest year on his bike yet. 

Ever since Brayden Holland could ride a bike, he had ramps set up in his backyard and spent most of his time outside.

Well our para-cycling mega pilot Laura Thompson and her stoker Emma Foy certainly put in some great form again over the weekend at the World Road Cycling Champs in Switzerland

Cycling New Zealand has named a six-strong team, including Wanaka's Mikayla Harvey, to compete at the UCI Road World Championships in USA in September.

Well it’s pretty invigorating with all this sub-zero frosts overnight recently – no easing into the days slowly – you just have to get moving! 

It's official - our grand master of the track has got his New Zealand one hour record!

The sun kept shining as 2 Divisions split in 4 teams set off on their 48km journey at Waianiwa. Division one took off like rockets and maintained a fast pace throughout the whole race. Brendan Akeroyd was the most aggressive and was chased down by Geoff van Dam.

Another successful year of achievements was celebrated by members of the cycling fraternity at the Cycling Southland annual prizegiving awards last night.
